Angela M. Schumacher-Porras
Founder & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
With a degree in Metallurgical Engineering and a diverse, international background, Angela leads our engineering consulting firm, ABE PowerComm, with a rare breadth of experience.
Born in Nuremberg, Germany, she attended the Johann-Friedrich-Boettger-Institut in Selb and pursued a career as a metallurgist. She spent years researching new materials for aeronautics, space, transport, and civil engineering with the German Aerospace (DASA)—formerly known as Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB).
After moving to the United States in 1992, Angela shifted her focus to project and program management, IT, and regulatory compliance in healthcare at Oracle Health (University Health KC and Truman Medical Centers). Amongst many initiatives, she created the Project and Program Management Office (PMO) to strengthen internal structures and streamline processes.
In 2024, Angela founded ABE PowerComm to extend her expert guidance in project management to utilities with processes that adapt, scale, and succeed. Angela’s commitment to innovation and excellence defines our approach to solving today’s most complex utility challenges.
Daniel Newman, P.E., P.Eng., PMP
Principal Engineer & CONSULTANT
Daniel is an experienced Project Manager and Subject Matter Expert with 30+ years in telecommunications, IT/OT networks, and SCADA/NMS systems. He has a proven track record of managing engineering teams and delivering large-scale EPC programs focused on substation communications, automation, teleprotection, metering, and secure remote access.
He is skilled across a broad range of technologies including optical fiber (OPGW, ADSS, AD), microwave and MAS radios, SONet, PDH, TDM, frame-relay, MPLS, IP/Ethernet, and DWDM. He also brings extensive experience with IEC 61850, Modbus, and DNP protocols for substation IED monitoring and control.
Career Highlights:
- Led communications and automation efforts within a $1B Transmission & Substation EPC program (2012–2018), delivering all projects on-time and under budget.
- Contributed to two “Projects of the Year” recognized for social impact by the company’s Board of Directors.
